Roohi Movie Review 2021: There are many such confectioners in India, which are known not for the taste of their dish but for its decoration. The same problem with Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkumar Rao and Varun Sharma’s ‘Roohi’ released in theaters is that viewers will remember it for its decoration (Rajkumar-Varun’s good acting), not for the story because director Hardik Mehta Jo Kahana Wanted, he started to stutter before telling him.
Story of the film:
The story of the film ‘Roohi’ is of a girl (Janhvi Kapoor) who is suffering from a serious illness like multi personality disorder. This kind of disease is seen in our country by associating with ghosts and director Hardik Mehta wanted to convince people from his film that multi personality disorder should be looked at from a scientific perspective and not from the specter of ghosts. It goes astray even before it is told.
The film begins in a place called Bagdapur, where two crime journalists named Bahrao Pandey (Rajkumar Rao) and Katni (Varun Sharma) live. The man these two work for, they kidnap girls and get them married. The people of Bagdapur do not mind this kind of kidnapping because it has become their tradition now.
Bahura’s brother and Katni are hired by his boss to kidnap a girl named Ruhi, who has a serious illness such as a multi-personality disorder. Although this girl looks normal in appearance, but when her other personality i.e. the witch inside it comes in front of Bahura, they start trembling in fear. Katnani is in love with the avatar that Bahura finds scary. Now who will meet Ruhi with Bahura and Katni? And if you know during the film how Roohi will get rid of this disease, it will be better.
Highlights of the film:
The most special thing about ‘Roohi’ is the acting of Rajkumar Rao and Varun Sharma, which laughs a lot. The jugalbandi of these two is unmatched, which is the life of this film. Rajkumar Rao and Varun Sharma’s oneliners are awesome. There are punches in each of their lines, which are blossoming on the face. Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma are well-known artists and their spectacular acting dominates in 70 percent of ‘Roohi’.
‘Roohi’ is a horror comedy, due to which background music becomes important. It has a major contribution in making the film scenes effective. In ‘Roohi’, where there should be fear, there is really fear and for this, the sound department of ‘Roohi’ should be praised.
Flaws of the film:
The biggest drawback of the film is its screenplay, which disintegrates at the end of the first part. The superb acting by Rajkumar Rao and Varun Sharma handles the film to a large extent, but the message that director Hardik Mehta wanted to convey through ‘Roohi’ gets blurred by the end.
VFX has been used to create some scenes of the film. Some more effort could be made to create these scenes because the theft of VFX artists is easily seen on the big screen.
Final verdict:
Actor of Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma in the film ‘Roohi’ constantly laughs but this film does not reach its message to the right address. The film has come to talk about such a serious disease, which the society needs to be aware of, but it fails to explain. Ruhi has come as a hurdle in the horror universe Dinesh Vijan is dreaming of. 2.5 Ruhi to ‘Roohi’ from my side …..
