Riya Sen born Riya Dev Varma; is an Indian film actress and model. Riya, who comes from a family of actors including her grandmother Suchitra Sen, mother Moon Moon Sen and sister Raima Sen, began her acting career in 1991 as a child actress in the film Vishkanya.
Riya was recognized for the first time as a model when she played in the video clip of Falguni Pathak, Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi, at the age of 16 in 1998. Since then, she has appeared in music videos , television commercials, fashion shows and magazine covers. Riya worked as an activist and appeared in an AIDS music video to dispel popular myths about the disease. She has also helped raise funds for pediatric eye care.

Riya entered the film industry through small modeling missions, commuting between Mumbai and Kolkata and using public transportation early in her career. Riya completed her studies at Loreto House and Rani Birla Girls’ College (affiliated with the University of Calcutta), both located in Kolkata. Subsequently, she studied at the National Institute of Fashion and began designing jewelry as a hobby. She designs most of the clothes she wears in movies and commercials.
